Last week 3 year 1 and 2 classes went on a trip to see a sailing ship called The Trincomalee. We are studying pirates for our topic this term and the Trincomalee is exactly the same as the Pirate ships of old. We had a great day and all learned so much about life on a pirate ship. Have a look at our pictures and let us know what you think.

In science we have been identifying materials. Some of us went for a walk in the playground to see if we could find things made of wood, glass, rock, plastic, metal and water – Charlie is pointing up to the clouds as he knew they were made up of water (vapour). I was really pleased with how much the children already knew about materials.  Well done Woodpeckers.

Crocodile Maths

In maths we have been trying to decide which number is the biggest and which is the smallest.  We made ‘crocodiles’ from lollipop sticks because, as everybody knows, the crocodile always eats the biggest number!

Have a look at our pictures and check if we got them all right.  Some of us used bugs or fruit, some of us used digit cards, some of us used number word cards and some of us used number sentences. It was very tricky but I think we did a great job – don’t you?

Hello and welcome to our new year at Leeming and in particular to Woodpeckers’ class. We have started the term well and are already doing lots of tricky work, but having lots of fun too.  Look out for posts on this blog showing you what we have been up to.  Please do add your comments as the children love to read them and are very proud if there is a comment from a member of their family.

Best wishes from Mrs Calvert.
